The Space. The Exposure. The Atmosphere.
With the combination of local businesses, fashion, food and a creative space this event was destined to be a big hit from the start. As the elevator doors opened the event was beaming with excitement. Last night was all about the space, the exposure and the atmosphere.
The event was held at A Flick of Hares (AFOH), a space that doubles as both a salon and an event space. The simplistic space was the perfect backdrop for the event and many events to come; this blank space has potential written all over it. The raw white brick walls are unique and gave event organisers, Kate Thackray and Erin Behn, the freedom to create and style the event from head to toe. The event space also has blue movable walls allowing whatever the creator has envisioned to be arranged and come to life. The lighting in combination with local blooms and greenery from Nature Child completely transformed the space.
This event is a collection of small business owners uniting together to grow their businesses.
One Hunted was bought to life by local Canberra models and the amazing hair styles by Kate Lily Dressing Hair. Erin, owner of One Hunted, showcased stylish, on trend pieces that were also for sale on the night. Wink Jewellery showcased their timeless products. The modern minimalist style of Wink Jewellery complimented the simplistic space perfectly. Not only does Wink Jewellery stock a wide range of high quality products but they generously donate $1 from every purchase to The International Women’s Development Agency. Those who attended were also lucky enough to hear Vendulka Music and Kefilina. Lulu & Sis were the cherry on top. They are two sisters from Googong with a passion for baking and a flare for dessert design. Their creative designs are phenomenal and taste sensation; the spiced caramel mud cupcake was definitely one of my favourites!
There’s just something about Canberra, we completely remove the notion of a competitive business nature. Everyone in attendance offered genuine support for all business owners, models and musicians; it makes you realise the strong sense of community within Canberra. This event was also so unique, in that it gave consumers to opportunity to not only see and experience everything each business has to offer but also to meet and talk with the business owners. To talk with business owners about how their business begun, where the business is heading as well as getting more information about their products, is a chance you don’t often get. The more the consumer gets to know the business own the more trust they have in the product, and there’s nothing better than supporting local businesses.
It was a fantastic night giving everyone the chance to be introduced to A Flick of Hare, One Hunted, Wink Jewellery, Lulu & Sis while enjoying the fashion show, shopping, food and music on offer.
